This fall, the super heroes of wrestling have a new home. Friday Night SmackDown will premiere on its new home October 1st at 8:00 PM ET. The program, which debuted more than 10 years ago, is one of the longest-running weekly episodic shows on television.

Featuring a star-studded cast of WWE Superstars and Divas, Friday Night SmackDown will deliver a shot of adrenaline to Syfy’s lineup and bring fans over-the-top action, feats of athleticism beyond the reach of mortal men, and WWE’s special brand of drama. Larger-than-life personalities like Undertaker, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix, among others, are set to deliver their explosive power to Syfy’s Friday night lineup and remind viewers that it takes more than muscle to Imagine Greater.

What in the world is going on with the Divas? They are a hitting a new low, week in and week out, and all we can do is hope that Beth Phoenix or Melina come back to action sooner rather than later. While this decline has been going on for years (and especially within the last few months since Mickie James was released by the company), the large problems seem to hit constant lows.

There are no real feuds going on at the moment. Of course, we have a Diva winning a title and then losing it to another Diva. Then, the two have a few matches and the action goes back and forth for a month or two. Following that routine, we have a new batch of Divas doing the same thing over and over.

At the very least, and I still object to this, but at the end of the Mickie James era, we had “Piggie James.” This was a low in the Divas Division, but at LEAST it was a feud. Can anyone think of a feud worth remembering since then?

Maryse and Alicia Fox have been going at it for the Divas Championship. Oh wait, wasn’t it Eve Torres who was the Divas champ? We can’t forget about her, so WWE just throws her into matches from time to time.

It is clear the WWE isn’t sure who to root for, making the fans clueless as well. Divas are just thrown together in matches without any thought put into them. It’s as if they are told, “Here, just go out there and look pretty.”

Not only do we have two different titles for women, we have a co-Womens champions. We have a mini stable called LayCool that WWE likes to keep around, and since there are no tag teams in the Divas Division, they decided to put belts on both women.

This only weakens the Women’s Championship. What if WWE decided to have WWE co-Championship? This would just confuse everybody.

Now that Michelle McCool is married to the Undertaker, I expect her to be a champion for quite some time.

If you marry someone high in the business you will be in the spotlight. Just look at Triple H as an example. I just hope WWE uses McCool wisely and doesn’t just throw her in random matches that have no meaning.

Come on, WWE, give me something worth watching.

My guess is that LayCool will stick around much longer than we care to see. With top stars injured or having been recently released, there seems to be little hope for the future of the Women’s Division.

WWE is trying to make new Diva stars, but with the lack of real feuds or any clear direction, this seems to be a lost cause.

If you look at the Divas in the WWE, and how can you not, they seem to fit a certain look: beautiful, thin, and athletic. The only two who don’t fit the same “diva” body type are Beth Phoenix, from my hometown of Buffalo NY, and recently released Mickie James.

While Beth was called “The Glamazon” due to her larger and more muscular stature, Mickie James was featured in a storyline where two other women mocked her weight. The purpose of that storyline was to really bring the heat to the the female heel team of Lay-Cool, because in fact Mickie wasn’t overweight. She looked great, she just didn’t fit the Barbie Doll mold of the other Divas.

Now TNA has lost several of their Knockouts and you have to wonder if WWE will bring in women who don’t fit the current look of the Diva roster.

Bring Victoria Back!

In TNA she was Tara but everyone still knew she was Victoria. Despite her age of 38, she is a beautiful woman who is in great shape.

Could you imagine the draw the show would get if they actually went with that? How many moms love wrestling?! Tons! Real women watch wrestling, and showing a woman of her age competing hard with the younger crowd would be a great story to use.

I’m slightly biased when it comes to Victoria as she reminds me a bit of my wife (she puts in those red highlights for me.) However, I don’t think I’ll ever look like her favorite, Batista. Sorry, honey.

Roxxi and Taylor Wilde

Two former TNA Knockouts, but to be honest, I’m not a big TNA fan so I can’t recall if I’ve seen them perform. They seem to have that WWE look. Especially Wilde, who looks like TNA’s watered down version of Kelly Kelly, but I’m not sure if we need two more Divas that would just blend into the rest.

Awesome Kong

I’ve seen her perform, and she’s great. She’s a powerhouse who threw around the Knockouts and played to her strength of being a big woman. Even Stone Cold Steve Austin said the WWE should bring her in on his Twitter account.

I was never a fan of her name, though; I find it to be mean. I understand she’s a big woman, but Kong? She should join the Divas and absolutely go after Lay-Cool and bring up the fact that they have an issue with women who aren’t a size one.

We would no doubt have to change her name, not only for copyright purposes but because no woman wants to be known as Kong.

ODB, Jessica Kresa

Though she just recently left TNA, I’ve also seen her perform and I thought she was great. She’s another very real looking woman. She’s strong, attractive, and has that bad girl look to her that would go over great in the Divas division.

Her going against Phoenix would be great, and then if the two of them teamed up as some Amazon team, even better! Heck, give her a name like “Artemis” or some other Goddess warrior.

The gimmick of drinking from a flask and slapping herself in the chest won’t fit in the PG WWE, but that should stay with TNA. Their southern audience might have liked that but we need to bring her to a new worldly level. She’d be a great Divas champion and has huge potential.

It’s said that TNA will probably make a big deal of Mickie James joining TNA and joining the Knockouts. What better way to quell any type of hype that would get by bringing in at least three of their show’s former high profile Knockouts?

WWE, if you’re reading this, we don’t always need pillow fights and bikini contests; have a mix of both and it’s bound to be good.
